The documentation was originally in the form of two volumes, being a report of company activites and correspondence compiled for the use of the company's directors. Chronologically recorded are details of company development, machinery, staffing, finance, arms and cycle production, sales contracts around the World, and the detail of the involvement of various well known companies and persons of the times.
The typed document has a handwritten note on the front page that reads
"Transcripts of tapes taken by D.A. Nie"
The Imperial War Museum dates their copy for 1972, as by an unknown author, and as being published by "The Firm" .
Douglas Nie authoured a number of books, and was co-author of the book "English Gunmakers" with De Witt Bailey.
